Connecticut entrepreneur Jill Kovalich is the Founder of the unique online hub, SoloAgersConnect.com, designed to connect Solo Agers with information, resources, service providers, and events that reduce isolation and loneliness. Jill is also a Solo Ager with a positive outlook on aging and life. She will present to the Low Vision Support Group at the Farmington Connecticut Senior Center a discussion adapted for the audience.
Jill will present “Solo Agers on the Rise,” which addresses the largely invisible population of 250,000 people in Connecticut and 16 million in the U.S. over age 50 navigating life’s challenges and decisions without the support of a spouse or life partner, children, or relatives involved in their lives. They are referred to as Solo Agers and Elder Orphans.
Jill’s presentation explores:
- the shifting demographics in our aging nation.
- the declining birthrate and what that means to our society and our support needs.
- the financial picture specific to solo agers.
- loneliness and isolation in our disconnected society.
- strategies for staying connected and engaged.
- strategies for creating a positive outlook as we age.
