Where Does My Stuff Go?

This article is from Leslie Raycraft, owner and founder of POSH Organizing, specializing in residential organizing and move management throughout Connecticut. Are you considering downsizing or decluttering? Everyone could use the help of a professional organizer to get you started, help you through the process, or just get it done. This is where Leslie Raycraft steps in to help you.
Leslie tells us that one of the most common questions she gets at POSH Organizing is: “What happens to my stuff after we decide it’s time to let it go?”
When we work with you in your home, nothing leaves without your permission. You are always in control. We’ll ask you several times — and sometimes in different ways — if you truly want to keep an item. This isn’t because we’re trying to push you to get rid of things. It’s because often the initial reaction is to say:
💭 “I need that.”
💭 “I might use it someday.”
💭 “I spent money on that, I can’t just give it away!”
But the truth is, the money is already spent — and now those items are just taking up valuable space in your home. We ask those questions to help you pause and reflect: Is this something I truly need or is it something I simply want to hold onto? When you choose to let them go, you’re not only freeing up space but also giving these products a chance to make a meaningful difference in someone else’s life.
But when you do decide it’s time to part with something, you might wonder — what happens next?
